Spooktacular Games
It’s that time of year when the temperature is getting cooler and the sun is going down earlier - FALL! But we all know the real star of Fall is Halloween, so we’ve put together a list of Halloween games to add to your Fall fun!
QUACKS!
In Quacks (formerly Quacks of Quedlinburg), players are pushing their luck, adding ingredients into their pots to create a potion by drawing tokens one at a time from a bag. If you draw too many white chips and your potion explodes, but the more ingredients in your swirling pot, the greater the reward. Players can stop drawing at any point as long as their pot has not exploded, earning money to buy more ingredients to dilute their bag and give special powers when drawn.
High replayability is at the heart of this game, driven by a rotating set of Ingredient Books that change the effects of your tokens and keep every session feeling fresh. Gameplay focuses on an addictive "push your luck" mechanism: the more you draw from your bag, the faster you can acquire better ingredients. If your potion is the best one brewed (and you managed to avoid an explosion!), you'll earn a bonus die roll for extra rewards.
The game is 1-4 players, but with primarily simultaneous play, more players can participate if you have additional copies of the game.

BOOOP
In 2022, Smirk & Dagger games released Boop, an abstract game of cats trying to bounce each other off a bed. In 2023, they improved this game by giving it a cute Halloween theme! Now the cats are little cat witches or pumpkin cats.
In this gam,e players try to line up 3 of their KITTENS in order to convert one of those pieces into a CAT. Players win the game by lining up 3 CATS. The twist is when placing your cats/kittens ,you boop all adjacent pieces, pushing them 1 space.
This is a fun alternative and step up from abstract games like Tic-Tac-Toe, Connect 4, etc. Much cuter as well!
Werewords
Werewords is the lovechild of 20 Questions and Werewolf. One player takes on the role of the mayor who cannot speak, but are trying to get the rest of the players to guess a word (chosen from an app). The rest of are villagers asking Yes/No questions to try and determine the word. A select few are werewolves, trying to derail the party and win if time expires without the word being said. However the village can seize victory from the jowls of the werewolves by guessing who they are. This game does require a free companion app to play.
Games of Werewords are quick taking less than 10 minutes. The game comes with a plethora of roles to mix the game up and keep it fresh.

Welcome To… (Halloween)
Welcome To… is a “flip and write” game about building a neighborhood. You flip over some number cards, pick one, and write it on your board. The fun factor in the base game is that you are actually selecting a pair of cards, a number, and a feature. The feature could be a pool, a fence, a park, etc., which makes your neighborhood better.
But why is this on the Halloween List? Wel,l there is a Halloween expansion that adds Tricks and Treats. The new boards have some houses printed with candy corn and ghosts. If you put a number on such a house, you must choose Trick (ghost) or Treat (candy corn). Once you’ve collected enough of one or the other, you can cash them in for a one-time bonus and block opponents from taking that bonus.

Horrified
Last game on the list is Horrified. A crisis management game similar to Pandemic has players cooperating in order to save a town from classic Universal Monsters.
The game features 7 classic monsters to play against that can be mixed and matched to alter the difficulty.
There are multiple versions of this game out now, but the original with class Universal Monsters has the greatest Halloween feel.
